artemis42: (Sombre Dawn)
I finally got out there and joined folks for the weekly pagan meetup today, which was lovely. It's been a bit lonely in my head of late, and it's really nice to get in touch with new people out here.

I've been happily spinning some handpainted silk roving that I got on Sunday, still waiting for some of the other stuff I've ordered to knock on my door. I found myself thinking about wheels at bedtime, and since I was already not able to sleep, I got up and did some more searching. The Elizabeth II from Ashford seems to be the way I want to go, if the antique wheel doesn't work out, especially since you can get a flax distaff and an old-fashioned quill spindle, and I'd really like to learn more about how to use one, since that's the style depicted in the John Rogers group statue of John Alden and Priscilla Mullens I grew up staring at. I feel like I'm getting more in touch with my ancestry than I realised when I first started spinning. Makes me wonder if I won't end up doing spinning demonstrations at Old Sturbridge Village when we are back in New England. *grin*

Now to figure out what I'm making for dinner while Henri works on his math problem set.

Later.
