Spelunking in my foot?
Aug. 6th, 2006 04:46 amFriday was spent running errands, getting the car a pre-trip checkout and heading over to the RMV to turn in the plates for my old car and pay an old ticket. The evening was pleasant, we watched a few episodes of She-Ra with J&A, then got a bit of packing done. Went down to the kitchen to procure a snack, when it was discovered that something painful was lodged in my foot. I don't know if I stepped on it that night or before, but a shard of glass was definitely wedged in my heel, and though I attempted to remove it myself with tweezers and a needle, there's only so much digging around I'm comfortable doing in my own foot before I have to give up and ask for help.
So, at around 2 in the morning, we headed out to the hospital to get my heel looked at. I wasn't sure if I'd gotten all the glass out, and it seemed like a bad idea to chance putting weight on the heel and sending the shard further in, so off we went. I think getting the shot of local anesthetic hurt more than the damn glass. The wound was cleaned up, and checked, and I went home with a numb foot and a bunch of bacitracin. Unfortunately, I can't really walk on it too well, and we have about 3 days left to get all the rest of my stuff packed. *sigh*
It will still all get done, come hell or high water, but it's going to be a lot more uncomfortable.
Made it out to Meat Fest for a few hours tonight, good to see people again before we leave the area for a few years.. good to see J&A gaming and having a good time, especially with all the stress going around.
It's been a productive night so far, I kept putting boxes together until I ran out of tape about an hour ago. Now, I finish my tea and head off to sleep for a few hours. More boxes and tape shall be acquired tomorrow.
