*happy excited noises*
Jan. 24th, 2006 03:05 amI'm off to bed in a few minutes, but I'm so absolutely delighted by this news that I'll post it here to share, though I'm not sure anyone reading this will know who Scott Walker is or care much. Since I adore him completely, I'll bounce about happily and wait with bated breath for the new releases.

"(Scott) Walker signed to British independent label 4AD in early 2004. On 24 November 2005, it was reported in Teletext's music magazine Planet Sound that the new album was completed and due for release in 2006. Elizabeth Fraser and Jarvis Cocker are rumoured to be involved. 4AD announced on 19 January 2006 that Scott Walker had completed the new album, called The Drift, to be out in May 2006. Also in the pipeline is a documentary 30 Century Man being made by New York director Stephen Kijak (Cinemania and Never Met Picasso). Interviews have already been recorded with David Bowie (executive producer of the film), Radiohead, Sting, and others. Some of the filming has already taken place inside the studio, and a short promo film was shown at Cannes Film Festival earlier in 2005."
If you are intrigued, and live near me, please ask, and if I can, I'll happily sit you down sometime and play some of his amazing music for you. Otherwise.. I'll recommend Tilt if you're sonically adventurous and interested in something complex that will take you a long time and many dedicated listening sessions to digest, or Scott 4, as it's stylistically approachable, yet all Scott's own work instead of a mix of covers and original compositions.
Later.
-Me.
