artemis42: (South Park)
I managed to get through this past week alright, if rather impatiently, and amidst slight nausea and drowsiness from the antibiotics I was put on after my doctor's visit on Wednesday night. *sigh* I'm doing much better now, though. The various costumes went over quite well, and I'm pleased that I put the effort into it this year.

Saturday was lovely, traveled up to Concord, NH for my cousin Justine's wedding. Met up with Henri up there, and our pirate costumes came out really well. The rest of my family was adorable, with mom and dad dressed as gypsies, and my sister in a lovely skirt and corset.. our costumes all sort of went together, in a way. My aunts and uncles had come in really lovely stuff, from Groucho Marx and Stevie Nicks to Mozart and the Cowardly Lion. The wedding itself was sweet, if attended by all manner of ghouls and goblins. Certainly the most interesting assemblage I've seen in a while. Of course, dad sat next to Tom, which usually portents some whispered commentary and snickering.. but he really didn't take into account how much his voice would travel, and ended up being way too audible and vaguely embarrassing. Great time hanging out with my cousins Eric and Luke, whom I never get to see anymore, and we all got a bit tanked. Good times. Drove back down to Sunderland afterwards, finally got home and crashed in bed around 5 in the morning.

Sunday we got up and went over to a party in Amherst, where I met many nifty people, including someone who may provide proof that my brain was secretly cloned at birth, watched some Mary Poppins and went to work in VT. The shift was painfully slow, especially the last hour, and I was glad to get on the road to Boston as soon as I was done counting drawers down. Sat and finished reading Stranger In A Strange Land, which I really enjoyed.

Monday was spent mostly loafing about in bed, in and out of sleep, before getting ready to go out and see the Dresden Dolls. Fabulous show. We caught one of the opening bands as well, Dvotchka, whose use of the theremin had me thoroughly enchanted. I'm looking forward to the Dolls' soon-to-be-released album, as some of the new songs they played were nicely divergent from some of their previous work, while still sounding like them. Amusing intoxicated persons on the subway home, and then a brief Samhain observance before falling into sleep.

Today has been spent mostly asleep, and I've been puttering about here since I got up around 2, writing, ironing my dress for tonight's dinner and such. My lower back is in a small amount of pain, no doubt muscle aches from yesterday's yoga, so I'm going to go lie down again before we need to head out.

Later.
