May. 28th, 2005

I'm having a surreal evening. Not really any more than many of the evenings I spend around my family.. but tonight particularly so.
I got home from VT around 11, took a brief nap before heading for CT to get to the evening's lighting gig, got snared in traffic on the way and ended up a bit late. My car was running hot, and I began to smell antifreeze as I neared CT.. I'm nursing a deep and unpleasant suspicion that I've blown through yet another head gasket. This is bad. Very bad. I can't exactly get a mechanic to look at the car and tell me what's up this weekend, so I'll have to beg a loan vehicle or something... decide whether to bother going up to VT with it on Tuesday to keep the appointment to get the windshield replaced or not. Grrrrrr.....

May just have to get a new vehicle. We shall see how it all works out. I was stressing out a bit, until I realised that there's really nothing I can do. I just have to work with the options in front of me and do the best I can.

Got through the gig fine, I've even gotten almost all of the cues programmed, and I'll go in early tomorrow to refocus the stage and make sure there's enough front fill light upstage. Got to make sure all the dancer's faces are lit real brightly for the video their parents are buying. *sigh* Good to see Peter, though.. talk about the work he's done in NY, theatre stuff. Makes me miss doing this more often, I guess. Professionalism and real talent tend to do that to me.

Came home and checked in for a bit before going to Chili's for drinks and appetizers. I'm going into the hot tub for a little while before I head over to Chris' to sleep until tomorrow afternoon... I might try to sleep in here, but something would inevitably wake me, and I don't need to be at Bailey until 5. I brought my computer with me, in a rare stroke of genius... since my old computer is sitting in my apartment in MA, there's no internet-capable machine here at my parents' house, and I've eBay customers to tend to and email to check. Or maybe I'm just making excuses for being addicted to my computer and feeling lost when there's no handy way of checking my email. *shrug*

Anyway.. I've found my old bathing suit, and we'll see if the temperature is finally up to a decent 102. :)

Later.
