Mmmm.. Holidaze..
Dec. 25th, 2003 11:15 pm*sigh* (Happy stuffed noise)
Drove down after work on X-Eve in some really thick fog, took a bit longer than usual, but otherwise the drive was uneventful. I hate driving through Springfield more than usual when it's raining. :P
Joined my parents at their friends' house, and came home around 1 am to clean and hang out with my mom a bit. We sat up talking until about 4 am... slept until noon. :) Did a few gifts in the morning, had a really nice brunchy thing together around 2, and lay about for the rest of the afternoon, just enjoying a day off together. We had dinner around 9:30, and my mom and I are going to sit and watch Nightmare Before Christmas... we're hosting the big family gathering here next year, and we usually try to center the decorating aroun d a theme.. last time we hosted, the theme was Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. The counting house was the front hall, complete with coal scuttle and chocolate coins, the dining room had a cornucopia set up for the Ghost of Christmas Present, and I was the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come, wandering around in my black renaissance gown and hooded cape. :)
So, for this coming year, since my sister and I are the scary ones of the family, and my mother gets such a kick out of theming.. we'll play and have f un with it, but on our aesthetic terms, this time. Since I can be spooky about it, I'm actually looking forward to this. So... I'll go watch the movie again and get some ideas.
Besides, it will be nice to snuggle, and I'm still pretty full from dinner an d warm comfy blankets sound like just the thing right now.
I got through on the phone call I was waiting for, my family's been pleasant to be with, and I'm stuffed. All in all, it has been a wonderful day.
