Hooray for social time!
Mar. 8th, 2007 03:32 pmWednesday afternoon was spent hanging out at Custom Handweavers, germinating ideas for the shawl project, and spinning. Got to meet another transplant from the east coast, who, like me, also misses home terribly. It was good to talk to someone who was sort of on the same page as me, because so far, California seems mostly populated by people who ran from the east coast and don't really look back, as well as natives born here who've never visited the other coast. Makes for very interesting conversation, but not always a lot of common ground.
Henri and I had both intended to go to the pagan meetup last night, but he got swallowed by a mountain of work, so I went by myself and had a wonderful time meeting some new and very cool people. Perhaps I'll be able to bring him next time.
I was going to get up and head over to the studio, but I'm not feeling incredible, and it's getting late anyway. Instead, I think I will get some tidying of the apartment done, as we expect guests this weekend, and we'll be busy until Sunday. Tonight, we planned to head back into the city for another visit to the hall of gamers, but we just got word that we won't be able to get in, so we'll stay home and get stuff done instead. Tomorrow we're meeting up with other people from Silicon Valley who are also heading to Burning Man this year. I'm glad for the chance to plan with other people, since I still don't really know what to expect from the event.
Talking to lots of new people is good. Anything that keeps me from trying to start conversations with the UPS guy out of desperation.
Later.
-Me.
