It's home for the weekend...

artemis42After dropping Henri off for his engineering problem session this afternoon, I went off to the studio to spin for a few hours. Hannelore, who runs the studio, took down the antique wheel to test it out, and after some tightening, some cleaning and a bit of tape, I was spinning on it. After an hour or so, she suggested I take it home with me and spin on it over the weekend, make sure that it's up to snuff, and that I'm sure about it before I buy it, giving her time to find out if her local guy can do the repairs necessary here, or if I'll just bring the bit that needs replacing home with me in December and ask for my dad's help in making a new piece for it.
So, here's a picture!
Aside from the missing top part of the flax distaff, it looks exactly the same as the wheel in the statue, which is just what I was looking for. Pretty exciting.
Guess I know what I'll be doing all weekend. *grin*
