The larp on Saturday evening was absolutely lovely, and I'm very glad we went. Spent Sunday hanging out at home instead of going to the tournament, as I'm still trying to kick the last of this illness out of my chest and we were both tired. Napped, played a few games of Jyhad and had scrambled eggs. Good day, nice and low-key. Met up at Veggie Planet and lunched before work on Monday, and got through the night mostly okay. Got to see Sam after work, hung out with her and Nick watching the Daily Show and the Colbert Report. I think I'd rather watch both of those shows over the news any day, if I have the option.

Came home from work early on Tuesday, still not quite recovered enough to make it through 8 hours of cashiering. Tended to the birds when I got in, Emerald's molting and covered in pinfeathers, which itch and are rather uncomfy, so she's always excited to see me and get a head scritching. It's definitely more difficult to be covered in feathers when you don't have a mate to help you preen the feathers on your head, the ones you can't reach yourself at all, except perhaps with a foot. Makes one scruffy-looking.
Of course, my coming in and curling up in bed was an invitation to Murphy to sit on the perch nearest me and make every noise he could think of while staring pointedly at me as if to ask why on earth I was in bed and not currently petting him.

I finally listened to the wonderful vinyl record I found a few months back, a reading of Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet performed by the late Richard Harris, with musical interpretations by Arif Marden. The music was a bit dated, as the album was done in 1974, but the reading was spirited and lovely, and nourishing to my tired soul. I'll admit that it was a little bit odd when I could hear Dumbledore in his voice every now and again, but it didn't distract from my enjoyment of the record. Perhaps tomorrow I'll listen to Leonard Nimoy reading Ray Bradbury's The Martian Chronicles before I go to work.

Thursday finds me in CT, going to the last Hartford Stage performance of the season with my mom, which will probably make me all teary-eyed, since I've really enjoyed both the plays and the time to spend with her. I'll be in Northampton this weekend, hanging out and looking after the kitties of doom while J&A are in DC for Anna's wedding.

Hopefully the rain will stop before New England is underwater. *sigh*

Later.
