Computers and kleenex...

Well, progress has been made in the quest to repair my old lime iMac, get all of my sister's files transferred from that computer to mine, then transfer it all to her new iBook laptop. Having made some discoveries the hard way about OS 9's ability (or complete lack thereof) to interface with OS X, I'm glad that my computer, able to use and start up in both operating systems, was brought down along with everything else. I had just finished transferring files to my sister's computer, when mine decides to not like restarting, inducing no small amount of panic on my part. Half an hour of cajoling and disk repair utilities later, my computer seems to be ok again. *phew!*
In the event of a catastrophic crash, most of my irreplaceable stuff.. poetry, pictures, etc.. is now backed up on Bug's hard drive... so I wasn't really terrified of losing everything, but there's a lot on there, and to have to reformat and reinstall everything would suck big time. Especially since the install discs for my computer are going on 3 years old, and there's a lot of updating I'd have to do.
Aanyway.. I'm glad I came down last night.. hung out with my sister and some of her friends around the fire in the backyard, then talked for a while with dad when he came home. He managed to get me to climb into the hammock in the backyard with him, feet-at-head oriented, and cocooned inside the hammock and a blanket, we fell asleep for a good hour, crickets chirping, trees rustling leaves overhead. Really nice night, despite the omnipresent sniffling.
Spent most of today in the dining room, sitting between the monitors, talking with my sister. Laundry is being accomplished, and I'm hoping that I'll be much less congested tomorrow, so I can get through my shift at work.
Now to show Morgan the rest of this Eddie Izzard disc.
Later.
-Me.
