Jaw hits floor...
Jun. 2nd, 2008 01:10 pmI always thought the glass canes my father collected were the high mark of glass skill.. until I saw this video of a glass spinning wheel by Andy Paiko. It's so unbelievably beautiful and delicate.
Not a bad example of someone spinning long draw from the fold, either.. especially since you can see through the wheel to watch what her hands are doing.
Also, while perusing a local antiquarian bookstore this afternoon, I found a beautiful gem in a Victorian-era copy of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's Courtship Of Miles Standish, which tells the story of Longfellow's (and my) ancestors, John Alden and Priscilla Mullins.
