I decided last week to create a supercoiled yarn in honor of Valentine's day, as a challenge to myself both in using colors I wouldn't normally want to spin with, (pink!) as well as an attempt to finally get more than 20 yards of finished yarn out of the effort.

Visit my Etsy shop to see the results for yourself...

I also recently finished the guanaco I'd been spindling, which came out beautifully.

I even took the time last night to give the antique saxony wheel another yearly coat of lemon oil, and now it's all clean, shiny and gorgeous, calling to me to come and spin fine thin singles on it. The wood is so old that it almost sings with joy at the moisture and conditioning the oil gives it.

I made something for dinner back on Tuesday night that I am calling Purple Bake. It is based on the Potato-Broccoli Bake that my mom made when I was growing up, only with purple ingredients. I picked up a head of purple cauliflower, some purple potatoes, and even used some cabernet-soaked cheddar, shown here.

The finished bake, underneath all the cheese, did indeed remain purple.

Thursday I plan to spend both chilling out with H, and getting the place clean while spinning and eating extremely tasty cheeses and fruits. Perhaps we'll even bust out the wine and chocolate and be decadent.

Love to my beloveds, far and wide.

Friday S arrives for a week, which will be amazing and wonderful and full of relaxing and hanging out and fiber geekery.

Later.
