Things I should not look at before bed..
Mar. 14th, 2007 01:24 amI think I edge closer to paranoia at this point in my cycle, because I always seem to spook myself more when I'm close to my period. Gave myself a good scare tonight watching these videos of a house on a shake table and imagining all my unsecured items flying across the room and shattering. I've at least made a list of everything I need to tack down, latch and nail to the wall. Water bottles are full, first aid kits are handy.. now I just need to get that emergency radio. I know that I cannot do a thing to prevent a massive earthquake, or the loss of everything I have here. What I can do is try to be as well-prepared as possible, and to know what to do in the event of an emergency to help us get through it as safely as possible. The other maps I looked at tonight show a very high probablility that the ground under our apartment will liquefy in a large quake, due to our proximity to the creek and the amount of filled in land in this area, making it very unstable. We'd actually be a bit safer if we were closer to Stanford, according to the geological survey data. I just hope to high heaven that nothing major hits while we're out here.
I'm still waiting on figuring out the details, but I'm planning on coming home to CT for a short visit in the beginning of April, and dragging my sister back out here with me for a brief but badly needed vacation for her. Taking the train is substantially cheaper than planes, even though it will take me a few days longer to arrive. I'll try to arrange a night out or some variety of gathering in lieu of trying to visit separately with everyone. Some of this trip is for my fledgling business, so I can't play the entire time, as much as I would love to.
Now to drink my cup of Sleepytime tea, spin for a bit and try to chill out, that sleep may be obtained soonish.
Later.
-Me.
