Food, music and life.
Feb. 24th, 2007 08:49 pmWent out to San Jose to see the Moody Blues last night, which was absolutely wonderful. We had a nice dinner across from the theatre, some tasty pastas and a sampling of wines, with a super tasty dessert crepe filled with hot sour cherries and flavored mascarpone cheese on top. I'm going to have to get mom to make crepes the next time I'm home as a dinner treat, so we can move in a progression from savory, like filled with creamed spinach, to dessert varieties a la mode. Mmm... I think I need some dinner.
Had some good conversations with other fans, enjoyed the enthusiasm of the people seated in front of us, especially when they played a song from an early album, One More Time To Live, that's like an anthem for compassion. Desolation! Creation! Annihilation! ... Communication... Compassion... Solution!
I'm heartened to see other young people listening to a message that comes across as strikingly relevant, that peace is worth working for, and war is never the answer. Waited after the show and got to see John and Justin, but they only signed a few items and went forward on the bus to the next show. Closest I've come yet, so it was still a thrill.
Reminded me of just how gracious, approachable and kind Mike Pinder was when I met him way back in 1995 at a meet and greet he did in CT when he released the Among The Stars album. Just checked out his website again when I got home last night, and it seems his sons have just released a new album, which is pretty cool. I'm looking forward to the copy of his CD The Promise arriving soon.. all these years, and I still hadn't gotten around to listening to it yet.
Which reminds me.. I really need to sit down with headphones and a lyric sheet to enjoy the most recent Scott Walker album, The Drift. We picked it up in New Orleans over the winter break, but it hasn't happened yet. Soon.. and then I shall post a thorough review.
Time to go make some dinner.
Later.
