Feb. 20th, 2007

Woke up this afternoon when my mom called to let me know that one of my sister's high school teachers just passed away, and she wasn't sure if I'd had him also, which I had not, though it's still sad for a man in his 50's to get taken down by prostate cancer.

Rolled out of bed and came to check my email and found a link to Tori Amos' site, with a new album announcement, and a picture that I am very very proud of her for putting up on her site, larger than life. Go check it out. I'll wait.

She's tackled many difficult issues in her songs over the years, from masturbation to rape, american indian struggles, christian hypocrisy, politics and grief, and helped to make me personally more comfortable with the struggles I've been through as a young woman. Issues of body, issues of faith and truth in the face of lies.. all in there. Poetry set to piano. Hooray for Tori.

Time to go out to the post office, before I get started on today's adventures in spinning.

Later.
