Round and round...
Dec. 8th, 2006 06:12 pmWednesday night's Damien Rice performance at the Paramount theatre in Oakland was absolutely wonderful. Some of the most beautiful Art Deco-style design I've seen since the years I haunted the former G. Fox building in Hartford, and much better preserved. The opener was great, and Damien's performance was especially powerful. There's a lot of intensity in his albums, but they pale in comparison to the riveted attention he commands on stage.
Thursday was full of errands and the arrival of a few eagerly awaited bits of equipment, namely the drum carder, lazy kate and the fibers I'd ordered from VT. I'm currently plying yarn that I spun up last night from a blend of black alpaca and hemp fibers, carded into batts with the new drum carder. I'm going to try and get as much spinning and plying done in the next few days as I can, since I'm only going to be drop spinning while we're away, and I need to make enough wool yarn to finish the throw I'm knitting.
Time to get back to the wheel while Henri's still at Stanford.
Later.
-Me.
