Dust, cats and cell phones.
Jul. 8th, 2005 12:27 amThere is a layer of dust on everything in my room. Seems lately I've been home only to change, feed the birds and run to work. Housesitting in Northampton's been nice, though, and I've been most appreciative of the use of the Toyota.. though my car's probably a little lonely. She'll get some mechanical attention next week.. hopefully that will help her to work well for a while yet. Having the cell phone for the week has also been a little strange. Something I've been sort of on the fence about for a while, more on the against side than not.. but I will (grudgingly) admit that the darn thing's useful.
I may be pressured into getting one, which would certainly make getting in touch with me more possible than not, and would give my beloveds peace of mind as I drive all over New England. We shall see. I certainly can't afford it right now, either way.
There's a corresponding layer of dust in my mind.. I think I'm in need of a nice brisk wind. Or a trip to the ocean.
Monday was a lovely day. I slept for a long time, and it felt very good. Went down to CT in the evening to spend time with my family, and got to see Eric and Amanda. Peach and Cherry Bellinis, dip, good conversations.
Talked with my mom for a while about the ways we communicate with each other and how we really need to get better at effectively speaking and listening, instead of second-guessing and stepping over one another. Who knows if I got through.. time will tell.
Tuesday night was quite pleasant. Watched God of War being played, munched on the rest of the dip, which seems to have met with approval, and had an enlightening talk. New perspectives are always a good idea, and I like being left with ideas to chew on.
Hung out with Kiernan on Wednesday night and watched Francis Ford Coppola's lush Dracula. Yum.
Lunch today with the co-op topic team committee was nice. Panda North is always good food.. next time I need to remember to get some of their Litchi ice cream.
Spent some time playing with conures and getting nibbled on by noisy hookbills at the pet shop, wandered around downtown for a while, then met up with Liam to go see Howl's Moving Castle. Not Miyazaki's best film to see if you like well-crafted plots.. but very beautiful, emotionally-driven and enjoyable. I'm looking forward to the DVD release so I can see it in Japanese. Commentary aside, I enjoyed both the film and the afternoon spent meandering about. Hooray for perspective stretching. :P
Tomorrow I work, Saturday I may go visit the family camping trip currently happening in New Hampshire, then head to the airport to (hopefully, provided storms don't delay things) pick J&A up. Sunday approaches, and with it, time to catch up with Dave and swoon at Justin Hayward. *grin*
Off to pat the kitties.
Later.
-Me.
