Another holiday weekend, gone too soon.
Jan. 2nd, 2006 03:20 amSpent Wednesday night in Vermont, after playing another great game of Jyhad with Liam and Jesse, and my Lasombra finally lasted long enough to get going and score a victory point. :)
Worked on Thursday morning, then went out after work with Naomi, stopped at Beadniks and then went over to New Hampshire and got my front tires replaced. Had dinner at the Mole's Eye for the first time.. we don't usually ever manage to get there while they're still serving food, and I was glad for the time to sit and catch up. Good quesadilla, too.
Hung out at home on Thursday night, got a bit of good writing done, and a productive conversation with my mom.. which turned out to be very helpful.
Work went by quickly enough on Friday night, and I had some good conversations with customers that considerably brightened my spirits. Hung out in Northampton after getting out, and watched O Brother, Where Art Thou?, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Slept in on Saturday, which was also very nice. Went to a party with J&A.. interesting times. The ball dropped, we drank, and the dip was a hit. I'm happy. Made it home in the snow alright, which is a little more than I can say for the trip there, but we only ended up in one snowbank. And J got to offroad us back on track, always a good time. More sleeping in on Sunday... with the added amazing wakeup benefit of waffles! With raspberries! *droools*
This afternoon and evening has been spent curled up watching Mythbusters do dangerous and explosive things in the name of science, and watching an awful adaptation of the Phantom Of The Opera... there was even a bit of potential there, and seeing it so blatantly squandered broke my heart. The guy they chose for the Phantom did have nice screen presence and some chemistry with the lead actress, but his vocal range just couldn't support the score he needed to sing, or the legacy he had to live up to for all of us who've seen the show and listened to the soundtrack throughout high school. It was oh so very goth in spots, and very pretty, but not quite good. *sigh*
There has just been a few hours of Karaoke Revolution Party, which hurts one's brain before the addition of alcohol, which somehow makes it alright to be belting out diva tunes sung by Whitney Houston. *shudders*
And now sleep will probably be happening within an hour or so.. work tomorrow and Tuesday, and then I can go out to Cambridge and pounce. Mmmm.. pouncing.
I have no idea what the rest of the week holds.. maybe a party this weekend, maybe just time to chill with beloveds. We shall see.
Later.

---------------------------
Think of how phenomena come trooping
out of the desert of non-existence
into this materiality.
Morning and night,
they arrive in a long line and take over
from each other, "It's my turn now. Get out!"
A son comes of age, and the father packs up.
This place of phenomena is a wide exchange
of highways, with everything going all sorts
of different ways.
We seem to be sitting still,
but we're actually moving, and the fantasies
of phenomena are sliding through us
like ideas through curtains.
They go to the well
of deep love inside each of us.
They fill their jars there, and they leave.
There is a source they come from,
and a fountain inside here.
Be generous.
Be grateful. Confess when you're not.
We can't know
what the divine intelligence
has in mind!
Who am I,
standing in the midst of this
thought-traffic?
